Boys & Girls Clubs (NI) is not just a charity—it is a cornerstone of youth development with over 85 years of experience supporting young people and the organisations that serve them. Established in 1940 as a voluntary association of six local youth clubs, we have grown into a dynamic Regional Voluntary Youth Organisation (RVYO), operating as a registered charity and limited company with a membership network of more than 140 youth and community organisations across Northern Ireland.
What sets us apart is our unwavering commitment to cross-community engagement and our belief that youth work should be inclusive, responsive, and rooted in shared learning. Our membership is intentionally diverse, spanning full-time and part-time youth clubs, schools, community groups, and sports organisations—each united by a common goal: to enrich the lives of children and young people.
We deliver a wide range of non-formal education programmes and youth-led initiatives under key thematic areas such as health and wellbeing, good relations, and personal development. These are financed through a blend of public and private sponsorship, allowing us to remain agile and responsive to emerging needs. Our operational model is collaborative and values-driven, with a strong emphasis on partnership working, mentoring, and capacity-building.
With our head office based in Belfast and an active presence in both urban and rural communities, we ensure that geography, background, or belief never limits access to opportunity. Boys & Girls Clubs (NI) continues to play a pivotal role in shaping youth work infrastructure across the region—supporting practitioners, empowering young people, and fostering resilient communities.
